Learning From Bill Lishman

When I began working with Bill Lishman in 1978, I was eighteen years old and hungry to learn. Bill had a way of seeing possibility in raw material that changed how I thought about metal forever.

Those early years were filled with experimentation — welding, shaping, problem-solving on projects that demanded both technical skill and artistic courage. Bill pushed me to look beyond the obvious solution and find the form that truly belonged in the work.

It was not long before I was working independently, but the foundation he helped me build remains at the core of everything I create at The Wooden Anvil today.
