The Challenges of Life-Sized Sculpture

There is a moment in every large commission when the sculpture stops being an idea and becomes a physical problem to solve. How will it stand? How will it travel? How will weather, weight, and wind interact with the finished piece?

I've worked on life-sized animals, towering installations, and pieces that had to survive outdoors for decades. Each one required a marriage of artistic intent and structural thinking.

The reward is unmistakable — when a life-sized sculpture captures movement and expression in cold metal, people stop in their tracks. That reaction is worth every hour at the forge.
