Throwback – Salmon

It was thirty-three years ago that Richard created one of his first sculptures, done in collaboration with Bill Lishman. A magnificent work of art, a salmon which stands at twenty-seven feet long, made entirely of stainless steel. It was made for the town of Campbellton, New Brunswick, where it still is today. It was a bold project that marked the beginning of Richard’s decades long sculpting career.

At the young age of 18 in 1978 I began working with sculptor Bill Lishman. Soon I was delving into many varied projects with an emphasis in metal sculpture. It was not long before I was left on my own and very quickly developed my own unique skills as well as my own way of doing things. After ghost sculpting for various artists, I started my own company – The Wooden Anvil.
