About Richard Van Heuvelen

My journey as a metal sculptor started in 1978 at the young age of 18 years old when I began working with renowned artist Bill Lishman. Soon I was delving into many varied projects with an emphasis in metal sculpture. It was not long before I was left on my own and very quickly developed my own unique skills as well as my own way of doing metal work. After ghost sculpting for various artists, I started my own company – The Wooden Anvil.

I live near Port Perry, ON in a small home steps away from Lake Scugog. I built it in the early 2010s and have incorporated my artistic style into many elements of it, as well as the principles of sustainability and energy efficiency.

In my free time, I enjoy flying my ultralight, having drinks and engaging conversations with friends, and spending time with my family. I am a proud father of four beautiful women and currently have one granddaughter, Charlotte!
